Makeup Time

How the time flies. I feel like I haven't posted in quite some time. Like at least a month. haha Well here goes with the Christmas update. Christmas started the day after Thanksgiving here. This is when we put up the Christmas tree in order to have our college kids here for the occasion. Ashley's roommate Genna was also with us. We had a great time and this is when Abby started with the eternal round of "How many more days til Christmas, Mom?" and "Aaahhh--that's forever--it will take toooo long!" Seriously, this went on for a solid month. This is the first year that she apparently really had a clue what was going on and just couldn't wait. Then, she made a countdown chain in school and she would come stumbling out every morning to take a chain off.

She helped me decorate the house and her room and redecorated the tree several times. She immediately decided that it was not good that there were no presents under the tree. She went to work and within an hour there were presents for all of us under the tree and she was so excited. I should explain that Abby wraps presents for us all the time. Especially for birthdays. It is just a little scary to think what might be wrapped up in that present for you, or maybe I should say ammusing. For instance, you might get old story books, or a stuffed animal from off your own bed, or my very favorite, a rock, that she didn't want anymore. She gave that to Grandpa Nelson for HIS birthday, along with a barbie shawl and two little plastic animals. haha She gets so excited when you open them.

This Christmas was no exception. Preston got two old pencils and a pen wrapped up in wax paper, Kade and Sam got cars from our toy box, Mark and I got pictures that she had made. Devin did alright because she actually spent some money and bought him some candy. Preston was a little jealous and tried to trade him his pencils. My favorite was when Sam handed Abby a present that he had wrapped up for her without my knowledge. The present--a roll of toilet paper! Abby laughed so hard and I had a hard time getting her to let us use it later on. It was one of her special Christmas gifts. Which proves that you don't have to spend money to enjoy a great Christmas, you just need a good heart.

We loved it. Thank goodness you had Abby. Life would be a little dull. It's good to see your blog.
Love,
Linda

I'm a little envious. This is the first year we didn't have any little ones on Christmas morning. They have such joy in each moment!
